Impressive Holdiday Gift Wine

The high holidays are upon us. Chanukah just started and Christmas will be just around the proverbial corner. What says “happy holidays from me to you” than stellar Cabernet Sauvignons and Red Blends from some of California’s cult of culty wineries?Dancing Hares Red $172.99
Wine Advocate #209
Oct 2013
Robert Parker
Drink: 2013 – 2033

Even better, the 2010 Dancing Hares is deeper and fuller with more structure as well as a lot of the sensuality exhibited by the 2009. Composed of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, it boasts a dense purple color and notes of wet rocks, blueberries, black raspberries, mulberries, espresso and subtle background oak. The delicious aromatics are followed by a deep, supple, round, opulent wine with some tannin underlying the extravagant fruit. A beauty of purity and symmetry, it is capable of lasting two decades or more.

Mad Hatter Cabernet Sauvignon
(Hares’ little brother) $65.99M. Etain Cabernet Sauvignon (Scarecrow) $159.99
–sorry, the only 2011 in the bunch but our
first crack at anything from Scarecrow!
Prisoner Magnums $128.99

And here’s a short list of what we have in stock now:
Hundred Acre Ark Vineyard $349.99

Wine Advocate #204
Dec 2012
Antonio Galloni
Drink: 2020 – 2030

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard literally explodes from the glass. Precise veins of minerality frame the fruit in this intense, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. Black cherries, violets, tar and graphite are all layered together beautifully. Hints of chocolate, mocha and sweet spices appear late. The 2010 Ark sits on the razors’ edge of ripeness, as the Hundred Acre wines often do. At the same time, these wines have a way of developing notable complexity in bottle. There is a level of intensity matched by expressive inner perfume that is compelling. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030.

Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vyd
Cabernet Sauvignon $216.99
Wine Advocate #204
Dec 2012
Antonio Galloni
Drink: 2020 – 2030

From one of the great sites in Oakville, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard bristles on the palate with considerable energy and focus. Freshly cut flowers, red berries and crushed rocks all come to life in the glass. In 2010 Las Piedras stands out for its bright, intense salinity, which is the essential characteristic of this site. The 2010 needs at least a few years in bottle to settled down, but it is drop-dead gorgeous, even today. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030.
Ovid Red Wine $271.99 97pts Wine Advocate

Saunter Eagle Summit Vyd (Howell Mtn) $131.99
Red Head Vineyard (Napa Valley) $131.99
–the skinny: Heather and Josh Clark own this project while Heather’s parents the Claudons have Clark-Claudon up the road. The Clarks enlisted friend, Thomas Rivers Brown to work their wine and have crafted out something very special. The above are 2010s. The next vintage was handed into the WA and the 2011s received mid-90s. Just imagine how great 2010 was of a vintage and multiply that!
And we have several bottles.
